If you are interested in volunteering for My Very Own Blanket, there are a variety of ways you can help! You can volunteer as an individual, as a group, or by bringing co-workers together.

Learn more about foster care in Ohio by reading this Fact Sheet from Ohio Department of Job and Family Services.

The Blanket workshop is open for volunteers to assist with the creation of blankets.

2. Make Blankets at Home:

volunteer165x115You can make quilts, NO-Sew blankets, knitted or crocheted blankets at home. Quilt kits, fabric and supplies are available at the Blanket Workshop for you to pick up and make quilts at home on your own time. You can also help by cutting fabric that we provide into 5 1/2” and 8 1/2” fabric squares that will be used by Blanket Angels to make quilts.

Have a blanket making party with family and friends tying No-Sew fleece blankets! It’s easy and great for any age group. Pick up a kit from the blanket workshop for only $15!

We take blankets as small as 36” x 36” up to 60” x 80” or twin size and any size in between.  There is no required pattern, be as creative as you like.

3. Make a Donation:

My Very Own Blanket is a non-profit 501 (c) (3) organization which operates solely through the generous donations of time from our volunteers, in kind goods/services and monetary donations from the community.

*100% of all donations go directly to helping My Very Own Blanket support and comfort foster children. We are an all-volunteer run organization.

Donations can come in a variety of ways:
1. Gas Cards to pay for transportation of materials to volunteers and public children’s service agencies for blanket distribution.
2. Gift Cards to Jo Ann Fabrics to purchase materials to create the blankets.
3. Monetary donations for My Very Own Blanket to use to meet day to day operations, including utilities for the workshop and batting for quilts.

If you wish to donate materials to make blankets, or donate completed blankets, please feel free to stop by the Blanket Workshop during open hours: 175 E Broadway Ave., Westerville, Ohio, 43081.  We would love to give you a tour of the workshop!

My Very Own Blanket would like to encourage your group to help make a positive impact on children in foster care throughout the state of Ohio. We welcome business colleagues, professional organizations, church groups, service organizations, Greek organizations, neighborhood groups, sewing circle, quilt guild or any other group that you are a part of to volunteer your time or other resources. You can do this by hosting a blanket-making party, raising money to be used for batting and other expenses, or donating any of the supplies that we need to make blankets and bath kits.

My Very own Blanket would like to challenge your company to become a blanket partner! Energize your employees by encouraging them to participate in making blankets or volunteering at the workshop.
